"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -William Butler Yeates
I believe in the importance of getting children engaged and excited about education. Nothing is more rewarding than to see that light bulb click on in their young minds and to see their enthusiasm to explore further. I have been studying teaching at the elementary level at Grand Valley State University and I have been helping out in the classroom for the last two years observing methods of teaching and gaining experience working with children. I have worked at a summer day camp with the Salvation Army for the last three years. My goal is to teach in the upper elementary grades. My philosophy on education is that learning should be fun. I love to do hands on activities and games that help students learn. I also believe that learning should be meaningful and long lasting. Below there is a link to my experiences with social studies throughout my life and my current resume.
